My favourite CGI/Announcement trailers!

The recent Batman: Arkham Knight Announcement trailer got gamers, comic book fans and nerds in general screaming like One Direction fans. No doubt that’s the aim of announcement trailers, to get us hyped and wanting more info about the title.

It got me thinking, what other trailers have got me as excited as I was that day? What trailers have moved me, what trailers have peaked my interest in a title and what trailers have pretty much convinced me, that it will be a day one purchase (for better or worse) . What better way than a LIST!

Below is a list of my favourite trailers, hope you enjoy them as much as I do 😀

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Official E3 Trailer

Thought I would start with probably my favourite trailer of all. Ezio is certainly one of my favourite characters in gaming, seeing his struggles (and that Altaïr cameo) in the trailer quite frankly still puts a lump in my throat. Atmosphere is certainly what makes this trailer and that booming WoodKid track over it all is just striking. I might have fallen out of favour with the franchise, but this trailer always reminds me, that at one point I loved it.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Killing Monsters Cinematic Trailer

This is a trailer which just drips in cool, atmosphere, violence and highlights what the series has always been about; choice. Our moody hero Geralt could have chosen to look the other way and let those bastards torture that poor lady, but he did the right thing. But did it really look like the right thing? Did those guys deserve death? And how will she exact her revenge? These are type of questions the game throws at you often and it’s great to see that the trailer plays on these moral dilemmas also.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Cinematic

This is a franchise which I hadn’t played until this games release. I had always heard that the series was ahead of it’s time in terms of story and gameplay elements. This trailer sets us up for what was quite an intriguing premise and highlighted a possible real future for us all. The added historical and mythological elements thrown in served to show a trailer which left us with more questions than answers.

Star Wars: The Old Republic – “Deceived” Cinematic Trailer

As much as I hate to admit it, I’m a massive Star Wars fan boy (Star Trek sucks btw). The Old Republic franchise was one which I spent hours on before it was turned into an MMO. I was sceptical at first, but this trailer did it’s job of getting me re-hyped for the franchise. Sith vs Jedi in a no holds barred war, it’s basically what the films should have become. Just wish I had the time play an MMO :(

Super Super Smash Bros. – E3 Trailer

Looking at this list, I started to wonder if I was a moody bastard, what with all the killing and all. Then I remembered this piece of Nintendo magic. Finding out that the villager from Animal Crossing would be joining the smash fest was exciting enough. But those final moments when MegaMan jumps into the action, my jaw is still on the floor.
